A PATCH OF LIGHT
As the cold of Melbourne’s winter lifts, and the city takes its first steps into spring, come meet us here in this ‘patch of light’ as MGLC and shOUT present a new program of beautiful, diverse choral repertoire that celebrates what it means to find sanctuary.
MGLC and shOUT are proud of our long tradition of providing a place for our members to connect and be themselves.
For us, singing is a place where we feel safe, where we find joy, where we seek refuge from the stresses and strains of daily life. It’s our happy place – and we hope it will be yours too.
Performed in the acoustically brilliant James Tatoulis Auditorium at MLC in Kew, A Patch of Light is sure to be a bright spot on your calendar. We welcome you to come and enjoy the choral equivalent of a big hug and a comforting blanket of sound, that will leave you with a warm, happy glow.

Request A Performance
MGLC is Australia's longest running LGBTQIA+ choir, and our members have challenged stereotypes and stood as proud role models in the community since 1990. Through our music, we uplift our audiences, share experiences, celebrate hard-fought victories and foster acceptance.
Our main chorus has around 80 members, and shOUT, our youth chorus for 18-29 year olds, has a membership of around 30.
shOUT Youth Chorus is a thriving group of fantastic young singers between 18 and 29 years old.
shOUT often join with the main chorus in major performances, as well as staging their own concerts.
MGLC and shOUT regularly perform at community and local council events, and corporate and private functions.
We are happy to discuss performances big and small, but as we are a volunteer organization and have a busy regular rehearsal schedule, we recommend you make any performance requests several months in advance to avoid disappointment.
