The Memorial Garden

Keep their memory alive with a gift to make them soar with our music and make our garden grow…………

Naming the Melbourne Gay & Lesbian Chorus in your will:
The Melbourne Gay & Lesbian Chorus is acutely aware of the need to look after your family first. Once you have done all you can to provide for your family in your Will, please consider including the Melbourne Gay & Lesbian Chorus.

Keep the Chorus singing with a heartfelt gift.

Why Make a Will?

Your Will is a forward plan of how you would like your assets to be used. If you die without making a Will, the assets that you’ve worked so hard to accumulate may not be divided in the way that you would like, and it will probably mean time delays, extra worry, and possibly even added expenses for those closest to you. Through your Will you can be confident that your affairs will be settled as you would like and as quickly as possible.

Your Will can also be a way of expressing love and gratitude to your family and friends and ensuring that you can continue to look after them after your death.

So for your own peace of mind, you should have a Will. If you have made a Will, it is recommended that it be updated every five years.

How to Make a Will

We recommend that you seek the professional advice of your Solicitor or a Trustee Company when making your Will, to ensure that it will be effective. This need not be expensive and will be easier if you list the following things before going to discuss your Will:

Your assets - what you own;
Your debts - what you owe;
Your beneficiaries - the people and organisations you wish to name in your Will to benefit from your estate.

You then need to decide how you wish to divide your estate - what are you going to leave to each of your beneficiaries. You will also need to appoint an Executor or Executors who will carry out your wishes. This may be a relative or friend to be helped perhaps by your solicitor. A gift specified in your Will is called a bequest.

If necessary, you may also need to nominate guardians for children under the age of 18.
